"National Make A Dog’s Day on October 22nd provides an opportunity to give all dogs the best day of their lives. The day not only encourages visits to shelters, but it is also a reminder to animal lovers everywhere to adopt instead of shop for a new pet. Approximately 3.3 million dogs enter shelters in the United States annually, many being relinquished by their owners. Worse still, approximately 35% of the animals that enter shelters are euthanized. While numbers continue to decline, the need for adoption continues to be overwhelming. One sure way to make a dog’s day is giving them a new, loving home through adoption. IF A DOG COULD TALK Of course, adoption is just one way to make a dog’s day. If your favorite canine companion could talk, they might tell us going for an extra-long walk would make their day. When was the last time you visited the dog park? Of course, a new chew toy might top their list. Sometimes, they just want to play. Throw the ball already! Another thing that tops the list of fur babies everywhere – don’t stop scratching that itch. While those ideas probably come to mind with ease, some other ideas are just as important. Regular check-ups. Check with your veterinarian for the schedule that fits your dog. Vaccinations. Different schedules apply depending on where you live. Spay or neuter your pet. Beyond the health benefits, unplanned puppies cause the population in shelters to increase."
My notes: Other good tips, let them be their own species- dog. Anybody have/ had dogs?

"National Nut Day is observed annually on October 22nd. This day is NOT about the neighbor that lives down the street or the co-worker who sings with their headphones on. It is a food holiday celebrating a healthy and nutritious snack. Nuts are a highly prized food and energy source and are a primary source of nutrients for both humans and wildlife. Many of them are used in cooking, eaten raw, sprouted, or roasted as a snack food, and pressed for oil that is used in cookery and cosmetics. The fats found in nuts, for the most part, are unsaturated fats, including monounsaturated fats. Many nuts are excellent sources of vitamins E and B2. They are also rich in protein, folate fiber, and essential minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper, and selenium. Nuts are essential to animals, especially those in temperate climates, as they store acorns and other nuts during the autumn months to keep from starving during late fall, all winter, and early spring.
Several studies have shown that those who consume nuts regularly are less likely to suffer from coronary heart disease (CHD). It was in 1993 that nuts were first linked to protection against CHD. Since that time, many clinical trials have found that the consumption of various nuts, such as almonds and walnuts, can lower serum LDL cholesterol concentrations. One study has shown that people who ate nuts lived two to three years longer than those who did not. Those who were consuming nuts may have been eating less junk food leading to a longer lifespan. Nuts in their raw form retain the most nutritional benefit, too. However you celebrate the day, though, be sure to enjoy snacking on your favorite nut!"
My notes: I love nuts! Almonds, pecans, pistachios, walnuts are top for me. What about you?

"National Color Day focuses on the impact color has on each of us. The observance takes place each year on October 22nd. Color is powerful. It can affect a mood, draw attention, even cause alarm. It is hard to imagine a world without color. Without color, we would nearly be blind. Doctors check for health through the color of a patient’s skin. On a late, crisp autumn morning, sparkling frost and leaves changing from green to vermillion signal a change of seasons. A flush of color in the cheeks of a friend sends a cue of her embarrassment. The street light turns from green to yellow to red. In the Grand Canyon, layers of sediment range in color from black to pale ash. All these signs alert us to change through color."
My notes: Just remember NOBODY nor no MOVEMENT has a monopoly on one color or colors. Colors are for EVERYBODY!

I agree wholeheartedly with ZandraJoi! We're surrounded by colors...we wear them, eat them, decorate with them, etc...they're everywhere you look. It'd be so boring without them...EVERYTHING has a color. When's the last time you opened up a box of crayons? How cool is that?! And, they are meant to be shared and appreciated...by EVERYONE

Colors are awesome. Nothing like bright beautiful colors to make your surroundings better. Colors affect us more than we consciously know.

"INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY, October 22 and June 28, is a holiday that needs two days on the calendar to be given its due. Software developer Derek Arnold created the original day to poke fun at “typographical conventions.” But it became the day we provoke Internet friends and colleagues and raise awareness that writing in all caps is not proper etiquette. Arnold added the second day in honor of boardwalk-bred Billy Mays, the “As Seen on TV” pitchman, who worked with his volume up. So push the Caps Lock key down and give somebody a shout out."
My notes: What do you think of Caps Lock? Do you keep them on? Be it accidentally or on purpose? I know the 'net tends to think of it as shouting.

My caps lock is turned off so it doesn't do anything. I almost never need it and with my tremors I got tired of accidentally hitting the caps lock key.

My caps lock is turned off so it doesn't do anything. I almost never need it and with my tremors I got tired of accidentally hitting the caps lock key. I can understand that! I use caps every so often but only for a word or two. HAPPY INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY. I DON'T USUALLY TALK LIKE THIS, BUT I FIGURED THIS WAS THE ONE TIME IT MADE SENSE TO DO SO! IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE
