Do you observe Daylight Savings Time? We do here but I don’t like it. I wish they would just do away with it. It throws people off. I do have a trick tho. Most people change their clocks before bed on Sat. I do it when I get UP on Sat. morning & some I change Friday night. It helps me get used to it gradually. I keep in the back of my mind the right time but for the most part, we don’t go anywhere anyways so time is not an issue. Also a helpful tip is to change your batteries in your smoke alarms.

Yes we do and I really dislike it. Twice a year your routine gets disrupted and every year people complain, politicians discuss stopping it and it never does

We have it as well and I'm not a fan at all. I really don't see the point of DST.

Well it's that time of year again for those of us who observe DST. I still change some of my clocks on Friday to make it easier to adjust.

Yeah, agreed. It's one of those dreadful, outdated things that we still find ourselves doing because - in my not very humble opinion - humans just have problems changing what they are doing, even when it is demonstrably to their benefit to do so. I don't understand such behavior.

This weekend we will Spring Ahead. Anybody else do it early like I do? I like getting my body & mind acclimated a few days ahead of time.

We do observe DST. I don't dread it like a lot of people do I just accept it and adjust. Would I be upset if they removed it though? Nah... I could embrace that just as well. lol

I'm currently working on a Daylight Savings formula for my calendar spreadsheet.
The spreadsheet already has a list of cities which can be chosen to see what time it is there. Now I'm trying to put DST in and it is COMPLETELY INSANE. First I have to convert my current time to UTC, and that can change depending on whether or not it is Daylight Saving Time here. Then I have to create a table with the start and end dates for each city I want to convert to...then look up the actual date each year, since they are all of the variety of "second Sunday in March" or somesuch, so it will vary depending on which year it is.
Then I have to take those dates and convert back from UTC.
So it is looking like: [my current time] + [variable depending on local DST] + [their offset from DST] + [variable depending on their DST] = time in remote location.
I have some of this formula working, but not all of it yet!
Not only that, but I have to keep track of the additions and subtractions to see whether or not they are in a different day than I am as a result!

I didn't realize so many currently observe. Several places previously observed. Then some never observed.

I'm always intrigued with the ideas people come up with! What made you think to create a spreadsheet like this & what would you use it for? Oh, it's a spreadsheet that I wrote to keep track of tasks, chores, and upcoming appointments and holidays. There are a lot of programs out there that can do so, but I'm very picky about what I wanted and I didn't like the way they were set up - so I wrote my own. It's written in LibreOffice, but it basically uses the same code as MS Excel so it could operate on there with a bit of tweaking. Lot of bells and whistles that I added just because I thought it was neat, like the date according to the French Revolutionary Calendar, and a "this-day-in-history" section labeled "CDAY". It looks like this:

scooter, Very impressive! That must have taken a lot of work & dedication! I like your CDAY. It's liken to my "Day Ofs" I do here.

You'll notice that there are a bunch of "#N/A" entries at the top center next to Hamburg...that's where I'm still working on the DST formula...

I do post on my forums as "atomictrivia", but my online trivia is really done on Monday nights at 7pm Eastern on my website, atomictrivia.us/playathome.php I do a complete re-run of my in-person Wednesday night game then.
Tonight was a general knowledge trivia quiz...everybody had a great time, I do think.

I don't like DST at all, we do follow it here. I wonder if we'll ever get rid of it. I don't think there's a point to using DST anymore, it was more for farmers back in the day.
