"National Housewife’s Day sets aside November 3rd to recognize the millions of hardworking housewives. The day honors the stay-at-home moms who take care of the children and the home. It’s a 24/7 job that sometimes does not get the thank you that is much deserved. The term housewife is an old term stemming from the days when most families were supported by one income. The father worked, and the mother stayed home to take care of the house and the children. These days, usually both parents work outside the home. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, in 61 % of households with children, both parents work outside the home. Of course, the age of the children impacts how much a parent stays home, too. And it isn’t always the mother who stays home. Sometimes it’s a dad. So, househusbands are on the rise. However, current statistics are difficult to find. Even so, those who stay home and manage a household have a difficult task. Those who stay home are considered to be a domestic engineer, managing budgets, children, and organizing the life of the house."
My notes: Who here is a housewife/husband? Do you like it, wish you could change it? If you are not one, do you wish you could be? I'm a housewife tho I do miss working.

"Whether you stack it high or thin, National Sandwich Day on November 3rd recognizes one of America’s favorite lunch items. The sandwich is believed to be the namesake of John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, following the claim that he was the inventor of the sandwich. No matter who invented it, we celebrate every kind of sandwich. While the modern sandwich is believed to be named after John Montagu, the exact circumstances of its invention and original use are the subject of debate. There is a rumor in a contemporary travel book titled Tour to London, by Pierre Jean Grosley, that formed the popular myth that bread and meat sustained Lord Sandwich at the gambling table. It is said that Lord Sandwich was a very conversant gambler and did not take the time to have a meal during his long hours playing at the card table. When hungry, he would ask his servants to bring him slices of meat between two slices of bread. This practice was a habit that was well known to his gambling friends who soon began to order “the same as Sandwich,” and from this, the sandwich was born. N.A.M. Rodger, who wrote Sandwich’s biography, suggests that because of Sandwich’s commitment to the navy, politics, and the arts, the first sandwich was more likely to have been consumed at his work desk. Before being known as sandwiches, the food seems just to have been called bread and meat or bread and cheese.
Types of Sandwiches In the United States alone, we have some pretty delicious sandwich inventions. The cheesesteak and sloppy joe are American classics. Don’t forget the muffuletta or the Monte Cristo. We love our Po boys and grilled cheese, pork tenderloins, and po’boys, too. However, we can’t forget some of these other absolutely delicious options:
BLT Club Dagwood French Dip Peanut Butter and Jelly Pilgrim"
My notes: What are your favorite types of sandwiches? I always liked tuna or PBJ.

"Culture Day Japan is celebrated every year on November 3. The constitution of Japan established this day as a national holiday. This day is also known as ‘Bunka no Hi’ and mostly celebrates the culture, academia, and arts of Japan. This national event is celebrated to pay respects to the traditional Japanese culture and to promote the notion of peace and freedom that is declared in the constitution of Japan. This public holiday was officially announced after the Second World War. In the first week of November, Education and Culture Week is observed. Events related to education and culture are held this week, which create a deep interest for people in Japanese culture." My notes: Who lives in or has visited Japan? What do you like best about it? I have dabbled in the language due to watching some anime but have never visited. @dominic, Senkusha

I dabbled in some Asian languages & have found Japanese & Korean easier to understand than Chinese (Mandarin). "....than life would be better. " I wish I could LIVE in Japan, then, life would be better. What would be different with living in Japan? I've never been there myself; I just know it's way crowded for me lol Went to Japan a couple of times when I was in the Navy. Very different culture, in a good way. How is it different? I think they respect elders more, is that still true? My daughter went to Japan for 3 weeks on an exchange program. We got the child of the family she stayed with before hand. How did your daughter like it? How did you like the exchange program yourself?

For one, the culture of the Japanese people. They are cleaner, they care about one another more than we do, they aren't typically rude to each other. They also have an awesome public transit system. And probably for me, it's the homeland of Anime! Among other things...

Oh wow! Thank you for this! It is hard to figure out names? For one, the culture of the Japanese people. They are cleaner, they care about one another more than we do, they aren't typically rude to each other. They also have an awesome public transit system. And probably for me, it's the homeland of Anime! Among other things... Thank you for sharing! You'd think being so crowded would flare tempers but seems it has the opposite effect. And probably for me, it's the homeland of Anime! Among other things... If only they didn't work half their populace to death and could control the dropping birth rate, then it truly would be a promised land of greatness. I have seen some Japanese people be extremely hard workers. I wasn't sure if it was their drive or the push on them as a culture. How is it different? Yeah, but the overworking of the population I think is hitting here in the United States even harder. Most people here, seem to have two or even three jobs, just to provide for the basics of living, that doesn't even consider saving anything for emergencies or let alone retirement.
Personally, I refuse to work more than 40 hours a week anymore. Last year, I worked 12 hour days, six days a week. All that got me was $235 in a tax refund, and most of the money I had saved was wiped out by moving expenses. And now, that tax money is being funneled to pay for illegal immigrants and genocidal campaigns half way around the world. I'm not a happy knowing that.

With Inflation the way it is, it's becoming near impossible to keep up.
I too am not happy that illegals are getting more benefits than we get & we spend a lot to arm Ukraine yet forget about Maui.

And let's not forget about the over $100 BILLION in aid we just sent to Israel to drop bombs on brown people and children. What infuriates me, is that we lost over 3000 working adults in 9/11. So far over 4,000 CHILDREN have been killed in this conflict, using OUR tax money! Our Government could end hunger in this country (I think it is, or maybe it's the entire world) for a mere $40 Billion, yet our government chooses to revoke lives instead.
THEN, there's all the money going towards these illegal immigrants, most of whom are young adult MEN. Getting free phones, housing, food stamps -- up to like $1,000 MONTHLY, yet here I am, limping to work because I've developed plantar fasciitis in both my feet, and now the pain has extended well into my calves, so now I can barely walk, let alone stand for nine hours each and every day, only to be able to BARELY afford to keep a roof over my head, and food to eat -- most of which is NOT the healthiest of things to be consuming, and is nutritionally devoid of necessary vitamins and minerals!
And poor Maui, one of our own States, has been partially destroyed, but our Government only seems to want to push ahead with their Smart Cities Agenda. "Here, poor person whose lost everything, have $700 on US." Like, WTF!?!! "But, We don't have any money for THAT"...
Okay, back to Japan. Sorry. I'm in a lot of pain this morning, and just had to call out from work. I'm not even sure I still have a job right now, I'm probably panicking. Anyway, Japan...
I love how many festivals and special Days they have in Japan. They get community! I think we as Americans should take a closer look at how the Japanese culture and society are constructed, and maybe mimic at least parts of it.

You are welcomed to start another topic on this. Maybe I can open up Human Rights as I think that will fit in there. We can also include your Spirituality. While they can mean two different things, on this forum, we can have them be similar. Just let me know I've never been to Japan....I'm sure I would enjoy it immensely! Instead of shoving them into homes. Just outside the city. I like my privacy but at the same time I don't want to have to travel a lot of miles to go into the city. I can relate. I live rural but we are 15 minutes from major stores. You get both worlds.

It's a shame that the USA didn't build up our Transit system like many other First World countries did. We built up pocketbooks for Corporate Interests instead with gasoline, cars, tolls, and parking fees.

Hi ZandraJoi, it's not that hard because I'm used to seeing how Japanese pronounce things Foreign names in Japan can go a lot of different ways too. I think my own name has like two or three different versions on some cards.
