healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2020/11/04/noise-induced-hearing-damage-in-dogs.aspx Story at-a-glance A case report authored by researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign evaluated noise-induced hearing loss in a police dog, a sniffer dog and a gun dog The report demonstrates that dogs exposed to loud noises can develop temporary or permanent deafness The researchers concluded that owners and handlers of certain types of working dogs should be aware of a dog's proximity to gunfire and other loud noises and potentially consider hearing protection Common symptoms of impaired hearing in dogs include lack of response to everyday sounds, no response when their name is called and sleeping through loud noises Some types of hearing impairment can be resolved, so it’s important to visit your veterinarian if you think your dog has developed a hearing problem; deaf dogs adapt well with appropriate training and handling My notes: They focus a lot on police dogs but loud noises can affect dogs at any time.

Yeah, don’t have your dog around saws and stuff when you use them. Don’t have them be around when you use machinery.
