I believe that planning is key when you want to save money. Spending less is not easy, but I believe that that is the only way to enjoy life. When you spend recklessly, you may end up becoming broke.

Furnace filter gets changed twice a year. I use hot water only on my sheets and towels.

I think food is the biggest contributor to your overall expenses, learn how to control your food budget by cutting expensive food items, unnecessary food items, junk foods, sodas, icecreams, confectionaries, etc.

Lots of great tips..some we already do, some we don't :-) We wash & rinse in cool water, grow own veggies, use a power strip, etc. And, never thought about silica packs to keep seeds fresh...good one!

Most of those seem like minor stuff that people who have money to burn would fix with something new or better. Though it may cost a lot at first, you would want to make sure to have proper windows and doors that keep out the outside weather, that will save you a ton of money.

I cut off from all types of junk since January and I have saved a considerable amount which I use in other areas of my life.

I like to grow own vegetables and using solar lights in these days for saving energy. I have not yet made any big decision for saving money because it can change my freedom of life, however only solar and power savings are my best savings.
I am planning to buy electric bike for saving more money that makes some sense to anyone.
Thanks for the suggestions, but everyone has a different life.
