That “Give a man a fish & you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish & you feed him for his life time.” I think long term. Another idea to help is to be frugal, make your own stuff. Make your own toothpaste (I do baking soda, stevia, cinnamon powder, haven’t had cavities in years), lipgloss, lotion. We use Kirk’s castile bar soap for washing dishes, hair, hands. Laundry I do borax & baking soda w/ essential oils. I make my own ‘sanitizer’ w/ alcohol, water, essential oils. They are nature’s anti-viral & for people who don’t think they are strong enough, okay, but they’ve been around a lot longer than the chemicals. i.e. triclosan is now banned. Encourage people to plant gardens, at least would help in summer/ fall. Even apartments can do containers or encourage their area to have a community garden. If you have others who are local, donate stuff. i.e. years ago we frequented a health food store. We had food, opened vitamins (those ones people get but don’t work so just leave in their cabinet), cosmetics. They had an honor, trust system. Take one thing, leave another.

I use baking soda for mouth was. Sometimes Hydrogen peroxide with water. It helps make teeth whiter and if my teeth or gums ache, it stops that.
Also, coconut oil is good for brushing teeth.

I no longer buy books unless it's one that I plan on keeping pretty much forever for reference or if I just truly enjoyed it and would like to re-read multiple times. I now borrow books from the library or use their system to borrow e-books.
I try to buy produce that are in season. The majority of our meals include affordable staples like rice, beans, pasta, bread, etc.
