A little quote I had found not too long ago: Money doesn’t always bring happiness. People with ten million dollars are no happier than people with nine million dollars.- Hobart Brown (1934-2007 American sculptor) My husband & I are pretty good at budgeting. Tips: don’t have credit cards & if you do, pay them off right away. Don’t buy frivolous things (like that 50th pair of shoes), but do splurge on occasion (it’s important to LIVE too!). Cook at home & don’t go out to restaurants much. I make my own laundry, dish soap, lotion balms, lipglosses. We’re frugal but organic too. We pick & choose. We don’t have HBO & extra channels. Don’t believe in cell phones, only have a Tracfone for emergencies. We don’t get a bunch of ‘bells & whistles’. I’m Dutch & my dad was & is a penny pincher lol He worked hard & paid off all his bills. They didn’t do credit cards, paid off their mortgage early. My husband & I don’t do credit cards either. We pay with cash & if we don’t have cash, we don’t need it. (exception of course is high priced essential items like a new vehicle). We don’t do gifts at holidays, tho we do give my parents a no neonicotinoid flower they can plant on Mom & Dad’s Days. We spend the time w/ our loved ones, not worrying ‘bout what to give them but our time, love, & hugs.

Well, until now, I never tried to save up much. More like it's my own way of rebellion against my family for making decisions ...for me. I have a BJD collection and it's an expensive hobby. Even now I plan to get 4 dolls in the next 6 months or so...and they are like 10000 USD and at the moment, I barely have about 1000 USD. So, I am sure it will take a while for me to get them.
Well, my family wants me to get a new house(so that I wouldn't waste my money on these dolls) and I have been thinking about that as well. So, now I feel like my salary is not enough for all of my needs and I need to make a budget plan for myself.

I spend when there is a need. ie, I am going out, I will choose a fine restaurant to eat at. But then I try not to order the costly dishes and try to do justice to my wallet.

I am 100% debt free, my home and my vehicles are all paid for. I'm good at saving and a week ago I bought a Honda Civic and paid cash for it.

Money allows for no worries regarding food and travel and shelter. Tons of people have major problems with that. Anyway, the problems of those who have enough money are kind of whiny. I mean, come on. If you got food, shelter and a place to live covered, what could be bother you? Well, a few things might be the threat of losing those things or losing your kids, having a fatal disease, being crippled, something like that.
