healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2021/04/23/what-is-an-owlet.aspxStory at-a-glance Spring means baby season and juvenile wild birds, called fledglings, are often mistaken as orphans Despite what many people think, it’s typically not a good idea to rescue a young bird, including birds of prey, on the ground (unless it’s obviously injured) Healthy owlets brought to wildlife rehab centers must be fed and managed in a way that doesn’t encourage them to imprint on (become dependent on) human caretakers The risk of imprinting can result in owls that can’t be released because they can’t hunt efficiently or have trouble flying or other problems that make it impossible for them to survive on their own in the wild My notes: While we have owls here, I can hear them, I have never actually seen an adult nor a baby. Too many people want to 'help' but what they don't realize, this is normal & nature. Even if the baby did fall out & the parents were killed, as much as I too love animals, it IS nature.

It's never good to pick up an animal that is not injured unless it's absolutely necessary. As much as you think it's cute, keep your God Damn hands to yourself lol

My notes: Interesting tidbits some of you may like. We have owls here, altho I have yet to find one of their nests or to see one up close. I do hear them "talking" in the forest.

Love owls! They're amazing and adorable at the same time:-) And, while I've never petted one, they're still cute & I'm content to admire them from a distance
