"National Garden Meditation Day, annually on May 3rd, encourages everyone to take time for oneβs self and relax. Working in the garden, tending to the plants and flowers, or resting quietly on a bench on a beautiful day in the garden are forms of meditation. Both can be restorative to the soul and a refreshing way to be out in nature. Meditation and gardening offer many benefits. When you couple it with the outdoor peace of a garden, you also get to enjoy the benefits nature has to offer. Fresh air β Immediately we benefit from being in the fresh air. Audio therapy β Natural sounds of the birds, a water fountain, or a breeze through the trees offer a reprisal from the everyday chaos of the television, radio, and other appliances indoors. Eases pain β The physical activity of gardening helps to loosen joints and stretch muscles. However, meditation alone also helps to reduce pain. Vitamin D β A natural dose (though limited) dose of the sunβs bounty keeps us healthy and strong. Do wear sunblock or protective wear to reduce your risk of overexposure. Improve sleep β Rest better by communing with nature. Whether you spend time pulling weeds or focusing your thoughts among the flowers, sleep will come more easily. Ease anxiety β Worries begin to evaporate as our muscles relax, and we take deeper slower breaths. The exercise of gardening also allows us to forget about our worldly concerns for a while."
My notes: Even if you don't have room for a big garden, just set some planters out, make it cozy. There's always ways to have one!

I agree that you can always make do, even with a small space for a garden. Right now I live in an apartment but have a large entryway and wrap around balcony where I have lots of plants and garden figurines. I've created my own little garden with what I have, and I love it.

"On May 3rd, National Montana Day recognizes The Treasure State and the big sky country. Itβs difficult to know where to begin when it comes to the 41st state in the U.S.A. If we look up, big sky country is there day or night. The northern lights dazzle and dance at night and during the day, an azure blue paints the dome above us. But, itβs also the Yellowstone region of the states known for the big sky, its geysers, hot springs, mountain views, and the most entrances into the park."
My notes: I've never been to Montana. It's more north than I would like. Who has been there or lived there?

"Every year, May 3 is when the world celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom. Itβs a day to evaluate press freedom around the world, to defend the media from attacks on their independence and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the exercise of their profession. At the core of the date is a reminder that it can be suicide to become a journalist. Publications and the people who work with them are harassed, attacked, murdered. Publications are censored, fined and closed down."
My notes: What people don't realize is yes, we do have freedom of the press, but it goes BOTH ways. Most of the media is biased, one-sided. They use it for entertainment, drama, the WOW factor more than actual facts. We need to keep defending this right.

So important! Our country was founded on basic rights...one of them is freedom of the press. Currently, in America, most of the press is slanted towards the left. I know where I can go to get more factual & true reporting and that's important to me.

First Amendment. Yeah, it's quite biased.

"Annually on May 3rd, National Specially-abled Pets Day shines a spotlight on the needs of pets with disabilities. This day is set aside to educate the public about caring for disabled pets. The day features disabled animals looking for a home. It also encourages animal lovers to consider choosing a disabled pet when they are looking at adopting a new pet family member. Before you adopt a pet with special needs, consider the time, energy, and financial needs, too."
My notes: The only thing I have against this day is the PC aspect. Disabled just meant they couldn't do certain things. Not that they were not able to do ALL things. Do you have a disabled pet? What have you done for them? 2 of our cats were deaf & one is a tri-paw. Funny thing though, pets don't consider these terms. They just go with the flow!

I don't have disabled pets, but I know someone who does. And, really...they are adorable! They need more attention and more patience, but they're worth it! They need more love, too! Animals are very smart, they're very keen on their surroundings. And, they know they're being loved, and they'll love you back for it

Too many PC terms! So what if they are disabled? That's what they are. Doesn't mean they are any less loving or playful.

lainee, Bob, Thank you both for your great replies! Ours is quite loving & trusting. Even being deaf & a tri-paw, he can go to sleep on his back, knowing he's safe with us. THAT is precious
