healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2021/05/16/pet-food-industry-research.aspx Story at-a-glance The results of a recent university study suggest that while pet parents are a good resource for observations about their animal companions’ emotions, their tendency to anthropomorphize may result in misguided assumptions about their pets’ feelings The study abstract states that these results may be helpful to the pet food industry in better understanding pet food consumers A reasonable assumption is that the processed pet food industry is looking for fresh angles from which to create marketing campaigns designed to play on the emotions of pet parents It’s important for pet parents who feed commercially available dog and cat food to be aware that marketers are highly skilled at influencing consumer purchases through emotional appeals My notes: While we personally say we have furkids, we DO know & understand they are animals first. To deny them that is not honoring their species.

No matter how much we love them and want to treat them like "kids", they are still animals and need to be treated differently as they don't identify themselves as "kids". They know what they know instinctively on how to interact with people. They know they aren't the same as us, so we should realize that too.
