healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2021/05/30/abnormal-panting-in-dogs.aspx Story at-a-glance Panting is the mechanism by which dogs regulate their body temperature and is entirely normal — unless it isn’t Abnormal panting, which every dog parent should know the signs of, can signal mild or significant illness, or emotional distress There are many potential causes of abnormal panting, including breed propensity, overheating, pain, and stress It’s important to know your dog’s panting “normal” so that you can quickly discern a problem and take action My notes: Another instance of knowing your pet.

It's always good to know your pet. To be able to spot signs that they are struggling or in distress is important, whether it be heat or other ailments. Some animals can be very stoic and have a high pain tolerance. Knowing your pet and spotting abnormalities in their behavior and demeanor could be the difference between life and death.
