naturalawakeningsnnj.com/blog/2020/09/30/carbon-neutrality “Corporate Hero Apple Seeks 2030 Carbon Neutrality Apple, Inc., the maker of the iPhone, iPad and Mac computers, has committed to becoming 100 percent carbon neutral overall, from its supply chain to retail outlets, by 2030. The goal is to achieve a zero net climate impact. According to BBC Science Focus Magazine, CEO Tim Cook says, “Businesses have a profound opportunity to help build a more sustainable future, one born of our common concern for the planet we share. The innovations powering our environmental journey are not only good for the planet, they’ve helped us make our products more energy-efficient and bring new sources of clean energy online around the world. Climate action can be the foundation for a new era of innovative potential, job creation and durable economic growth. With our commitment to carbon neutrality, we hope to be a ripple in the pond that creates a much larger change.” If successful, the 10-year plan will reduce carbon emissions by 75 percent and develop solutions such as the use of low carbon and recycled materials to achieve the other 25 percent.” My notes: Just hope they are doing it for the right reason & not jumping on that proverbial greenwash bandwagon.

Yes, I agree... we can only hope that they ARE doing it for the right reason.
But, for now the jury's out and we'll have to wait and see.
And, you know..2030 is not that far away...

I am so proud of people who act this way and are this profound about saving the environment. So much you could do if more people were like this. If you could just get even one tenth of the earths population to try and do something about pollution, especially polluted water which is the worst form of pollution there is, there would be a ripple effect that would do so much in the future.

I can't see that happening. They have to create so much pollution to create their products. From the mining of the metals and the processing of them (in pollution happy China no doubt), to the oil and petroleum derivatives to create the plastic parts, and the drilling for said oil. Add in the fact that they "upgrade" continuously to make their product more quickly obsolete so people want to buy a new one all the time, and THOUSANDS of them go to landfills every day. Most parts cannot be recycled and won't be. And the lazy people who won't take the time to recycle them just throw them in the landfills. If you ask me, Apple is full of shit. Can they do better? Hell yes. Carbon neutral? I can't see it.

Bob, You make good, solid points here. Mining, processing, drilling...you're right, they WOULD create more pollution. Constantly upgrading so more products go into landfills. I agree, Apple can and should do better than this. IMHO, this will not result in 'carbon neutrality'.
