"Across the United States, the third Saturday in July recognizes Toss Away the “Could Haves” and “Should Haves” Day. In short, don’t go through life with regrets. Created by author and motivational speaker Martha J. Ross-Rodgers, this day is intended for everyone to let go of the past and live for the present. The first step to participating in this day is to find a pen and paper. Then write down your “could haves” and “should haves” on the paper. Finally, throw away the list. Once you have thrown your “could haves” and “should haves” in the trash, make the following resolution: “From this day forward, I choose not to live in the past. The past is history that I can not change. I can do something about the present; I choose to live in the present.” Could haves and should have phrases take many forms. “What if I…” or “If only…” type thoughts keep us from moving forward. This day focuses on eliminating the thoughts that cause us to choose the past over the future. Sometimes it’s a matter of making different choices now that matters most. Now, take care of yourself and your health by living for now. Do your best and make the best of each and every day!"
My notes: Focus on the Now. Try not to dwell on what may have been, should have been.

That is a nice thing to say. I love that. Live in the present is something I always loved.

"If you feel extra lucky on July 17th, it might be because it’s National Lottery Day! Celebrate the way lotteries contribute to local and state programs. Lotteries date back to the 15th century. While early lotteries funded village needs by feeding and clothing the poor, they also strengthened defenses. According to Random Riches author, Manfred Zollinger, one of the oldest lotteries dates back to 1441 in Bruges, Belgium." My notes: Those lotteries were of course different than ours but still interesting how long the term has been in use. I made a QOD on this: Play lotto

"The Day for International Criminal Justice is July 17 on the National Day Calendar. This International Day promotes the rights of crime victims and the importance of upholding justice. Let’s take the opportunity to discuss the prevention of crimes that threaten peace and security throughout the world. Society expects that when someone commits a crime, they will be punished by law. A crime is anything that harms people or damages property. Common crimes include burglary, drug abuse violations, driving under the influence, disorderly conduct, fraud, and domestic abuse. Violence against others is another type of crime. Examples of violent crimes include homicide, murder, sexual assault, negligence, kidnapping, and harassment. There are also crimes against humanity. These types of crimes include genocide, enslavement, forced deportation, apartheid, and torture."
My notes: What a deep day, isn't it? Unfortunately, it's much needed to bring awareness & help support the victims.

On the flip side, criminal justice systems are overwhelmed in any 'free' society. Throw a banana at your spouse? Have them arrested for assault. Puh-leeze! Crap like that just clogs up the system and now it takes years to hand out justice to the real criminals.

There's no more of the Agree to Disagree but who can sue for the most stupidest thing & actually WIN!

And this is the crux of the problem. If these stupid ass lawsuits would just keep getting tossed people would give up on filing them.

True! It's not just sue-happy idiotic people...it's greedy lawyers...who encourage it and are in it for the money.
