www.naturalawakenings.com/2021/12/30/377690/the-electric-vehicle-revolution-moving-toward-an-all-ev-future-this-year"Almost certainly, electric cars are in everyone’s future. Not only are automakers—from General Motors and Volvo to Rolls-Royce and Bentley—pledging to stop producing gas and diesel cars, but a long list of countries in Europe and Asia plus three U.S. states are planning to ban them by 2040 or earlier, often citing climate change imperatives...." My notes: So many pros & cons to electric cars. They are always touted as the greener solution but they have some issues. Expensive. Batteries are expensive. Can't travel long distances. Would you get one?

I am definitely getting one. I just hope that in near future we can harness the wind and the solar to such an extent that we don't need nuclear and the turbine power type of the energy. So it all depends on how we are getting energy.

Even though electric cars do not use fossil fuels therefore they do not generate greenhouse gases, electric cars are as bad as normal cars because electric cars use batteries that are made with rare metals and mining is very damaging to the environment.

www.familyhandyman.com/article/most-faqs-about-electric-vehicles "Lower prices and improved technology are making electric vehicles increasingly popular. If you're considering buying an EV, here's what you need to know...." My notes: While I'm not for EVs, I hope this guide helps those who are contemplating getting one or not.

With me not driving at the moment I don't have the need for an electric vehicle but I know my brother who passed his test and started driving around 8 years ago now had often said he would like to upgrade to an electric car but as of yet has not done so. Not sure if it is still in his plans at the moment. They do seem to be getting more popular now though and I tend to see them out on the road when I am out more frequently.

Here, more people are using it, and a few of them were not aware of its benefits. I've seen some online videos of bikes getting themselves busted.
I purchased a hub motor but have yet to build an electric bike.

I'm not at the point where I'd want one because of what everyone has already listed here in this thread. The idea of doing something good for the environment is nice, but EVs have too many issues that aren't totally helping the environment. There has to be something better to take its place! But money rules in this world and someone is making a lot of money off this.

Not enough places to charge them, if there's an emergency.Gas stations would have to put them in and at what expense? Who would pay for it? The owners, gas company's(I doubt it) government(probably) but, the government would loose alot of money from the taxes they get on gas sales. I don't see why governments are so much for it? Yet, big politicians, would still have private jet guzzlers and luxury limo's. I'll stop while I'm ahead.

The cost of maintaining it at the moment will be a big one. So, I will have to pass right now till there are better options out there one can use to run electric cars.

I would take one of these for quick trips around town. I live in a small area so, it would work. I can't handle a bike too many hills around here. A bike would hurt my back and legs.

I would say they are our future, but I do not find them ready for me right now. They all seem to be built fairly cheaply and I have no means to keep the money on hand needed to randomly buy a new one when the batteries die as so far the companies seem to be giving drivers the middle finger for when they do die. Plus I still feel that we need to find a more environmentally friendly way to build the batteries and one that doesn't rely on our very limited supply of rare earth heavy metals. We also need to solve our electrical problems as our grid sucks and the current system is crushing families under non-stop price increases that in no way are going to improve as more people switch to being dependent on the single electrical provider allowed in their area.

I am still learning to drive, and have my driving test booked in December. Until then and now, I have been riding a Zero S with a Chargetank that allows 0-80% in around 1-2 hours from EV Charging points. The only problem with EV's is if everyone went electric tomorrow, most of the world don't have the infostructure to support electric charging from the grid and space to install EV points.
Also another issue is it's not exactly eco friendly to dispose of the battery, is it?

Not to mention a new battery costs a lot.

No stopping? Electrified in Democrat run San Francisco. Batteries can’t be charged at night or when raining. Even if all of the US went electric, still wouldn’t reduce global warming. Because China, India don’t. Lithium mines. Slave labor for kids. They think it’s green but it ain’t. Link: www.familyhandyman.com/article/electric-car-with-solar-panels/

Regular cars charge their own batteries. Too bad they can't do the same for EVs.

Electric cars are a huge mistake, think of the minerals that have to be harvested to make the batteries, and then what happens to batteries once they die? For that fact, what if you can't find a battery for your car?
We really should be taking a page from Japan and making hydrogen cars instead.

How much do you know about them? If they're good, they probably won't be in the US; won't be a moneymaker for the bigwigs!

My problem with electric cars is the inconvenience of charging them for long trips and the amount of downtime needed.
