healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2022/06/09/sharks-found-in-pet-food.aspx Story at-a-glance Several brands of pet food were found to contain endangered shark species, but their labels listed only generic terms such as “ocean fish,” “white fish” and “white bait” In all, 144 samples were sequenced, 31% of which contained shark DNA; none of them listed shark on the ingredients label The three most frequently identified species were blue sharks, silky sharks and whitetip reef sharks; several species identified were also classified as endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature Since 1970, oceanic shark and ray populations have declined by 71%, largely due to an 18-fold increase in fishing efforts I don’t recommend feeding seafood-based pet food for many reasons, including the difficulty in sourcing sustainable brands, mercury and heavy metal contamination and the inclusion of toxic preservatives My notes: You wouldn't think "shark" would be in pet food! It makes sense tho due to overfishing & using nets that don't distinguish between fish & other ocean creatures.

I didn't know shark was in pet food. Something to watch out for.
