healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2022/06/08/dog-owner-voice-recognition.aspx Story at-a-glance A newly published study by the dog-loving researchers at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Hungary shows that dogs can recognize their humans by voice alone To validate their findings, the researchers tested the dogs to ensure they weren’t using their sense of smell to identify their owners vs. strangers The findings suggest that dogs may be able to identify their owner's voice over the phone, which could hold promise for pets with separation anxiety A first-of-its kind study published in 2016 revealed that dogs hear not only what we say, but how we say it; they use the left hemisphere of their brains to process meaningful words, and the right hemisphere to process vocal tones The reward center of your dog’s brain is activated by praise, but only if you praise him in an upbeat tone of voice My notes: Dogs are smart! Voice, even what we look like & smell like, they can easily recognize.

It's not only your voice they can recognise easily but also your body smell. They can pick that out very quickly once you stay with them. Even if you're behind anything blocking them from seeing you, they will know it's you.
