www.familyhandyman.com/article/why-you-shouldnt-use-fabric-softener-on-towels"Is fabric softener bad? Not exactly, but it can be bad for your towels. Fabric softener is created from a silicone oil. During a wash cycle, this oil latches onto towel fibers and makes them slippery, greasy and less absorbent. Since the purpose of a towel is to absorb water, this is a problem. Some experts say you don’t have to completely stop using fabric softener when you wash your towels. Instead, use a softener every other washing. But, many experts, such as The Turkish Towel Co., recommend omitting fabric softener altogether when it comes to your towels...." My notes: I don't like using fabric softener & haven't in a long time. Yes, my clothes are a bit staticky but it's one less thing I have to buy, spend money on, etc. I instead use baking soda & vinegar. I already buy those products to clean with.

yes myself and my partner does use softner, i find not only does it make it soft but smells nice and fresh too, i have noticed over the years the price of it has increased and becoming more expensive to buy, so we usually look for bulk buys or wholesale at costco etc.

My family has never used it, we just use laundry soap and then dryer sheets, which reading up on of late sound just as bad. Just seems like these days you can't get anything without it being bad down the line.

I see no need for a fabric softener for my towels. I wash the towels weekly and use it the way it is since my lotion does good work on skin.
