We thought of getting one, not for security lol but 'cos our elderly cat is 17 & when we are away those 2 days, thought of having one to be sure they are all ok. Problem is, can't find one that you don't need a cell phone to hook up with.

You can connect it to the computer and then stream from it if the internet is ON. There are models that allow us to browse the feed through Firefox or Chrome after entering the password.

I don't use a security camera. The thing with those cameras is that they make you worry more about what is happening at home instead of when you should be out there looking for ways to make more money.

Their are several types of cameras and did you checked ESP 32 camera that is very cheap and can connected with wifi system. In these days so many are coming up with cameras to secure their home from strangers, but for one piece just use a smart camera.

My area is pretty safe, though there have been packages stolen left by mail carriers a few years ago. Though if I lived in an area that was less than ideal I would get some cameras or signs at least warning not to try anything on my property.

We have a ring camera but that's it. We got it when we used to live in our previous house since the neighborhood was kind of sketchy. The new neighborhood we live in is nice though, but there's still no reason to get rid of it just in case.

I don't use a security camera, however, there is a security camera point at the gate of the house I live in. This camera provides enough security for me The security camera was placed by the municipal office.

It is also a privacy nightmare if it gets hacked. So be careful how and where you use it.

when you're away from home you can't see what's happening live at home on your smartphone?

when you're away from home you can't see what's happening live at home on your smartphone? Cameras can be synced to your cell phone. Problem tho, even if you did see something, if you're away from home, you can't do much about it. Hopefully call neighbors or the police.

We do have security cameras around the exterior of our house, and also have an alarm system. Never can be too safe

Yes, we do (when I say "we", I'm referring to myself and my husband). We have a couple of cameras inside the house that we've had for a couple of years. We just got them so that we can keep an eye on the animals when we are away (and also to keep on eye on my mother-in-law when she comes to visit us.....long story). Anyway, we just recently got a security system put in over the course of the summer and we like it so far. I've been getting myself use to having to turn it off before I enter the house. I forgot one day and I set it off on accident. *cringe* Luckily I've only done it the one time and I've never done it since.

Having one for our pets when we are away is one of the reasons we thought about it. Especially when ours are elderly.

Yes, I had CCTV installed in my house last 3 months ago after I had an attempted breaking and entry by thieves. I'm happy I had them set up.
