naturalwestmichigan.com/air-pollution-and-antibiotic-resistance"Air pollution is not only harmful to human health, but it can also contribute to antibiotic resistance. Using 18 years of data from 116 countries, researchers observed that exposure to high levels of particulate matter air pollution can significantly increase the risk of antibiotic resistance in bacterial infections. Excessive and often inappropriate use of antibiotics has contributed to the evolution of superbugs that are resistant to life-saving antibiotics. However, this study published in The Lancet reveals that air pollution also plays a role in exacerbating the issue. The harmful particles in the air act as vehicles, facilitating the spread of antibiotic-resistant genes and promoting the survival and proliferation of resistant bacteria. By raising awareness about the environmental factors contributing to antibiotic resistance, changes to mitigate pollution and protect public health can be implemented. Efforts to reduce air pollution through stricter regulations, cleaner energy sources and sustainable practices can make a significant impact in preserving the efficacy of antibiotics." My notes: Antibiotics are needed in some cases but too often they are overprescribed which taxes our system even more. Add in the environmental consequences & it's a toxic soup.

Too many doctors prescribe antibiotics and too many people want them.

I agree with you Zandrajoi. I once had an ear infection. Three rounds of antibiotics did nothing to clear it up.

Antibiotics are useful sometimes. But, it's true, they are prescribed way too much.

Sadly, it is the third-world nations that feel this the most. We are lucky to have some of the most advanced health systems and huge amounts of funding to support new medications and treatments here in the US and even the EU, so many people don't even know that certain antibiotics are becoming less useful as our pool to select form is massive. It is quite a different story when your community doctor has one antibiotic on hand and the illness you have can't be treated with it.

I was given a lot early in life to combat sinus infection and what not, but I took more natural steps and don't need them as much thankfully.

There's lots of great natural antibiotic alternatives. If I remember here's some: - Onion and immersed in warmed Honey for 24 hours. The juice will help.
- Garlic and Olive Oil
- Tumeric
- Thyme and Olive Oil
- Oregano and Olive Oil
These are just from my memory as I've recently just learned about them. Be sure to do your research on their proper usage!
