Do you remember learning in school the homonyms, homophones, homographs, heternyms? Do you tend to forget which is which like I do? Per: Explanation. SOUND ALIKE Homonym- same sound - same OR different spelling fair (county/ reasonable), pear/ pair Homophone- same sound - different spelling pear/ pair SPELL ALIKE Homograph- spelling same OR different sound – same spelling lie (untruth/ down) Heteronym- diff sound – same spelling tear (in eye, rip) moose/ mousse

Synonyms mean the same thing. Homonyms sound the same.
