“The secret of good writing is to say an old thing in a new way or to say a new thing in an old way.”- Richard Harding Davis
My notes: How true do you think this is? I feel the way movies & even books are remade, they take it a bit too far lol However, I do appreciate the second part. Saying a new thing in an old way. May not get many modern readers but will definitely be unique in both aspects. What is your opinion? Do you have a different take on this quote?

Not sure I agree. Leaving aside things like personal taste ,(and I think many writers have inflated reputations) I feel that you "know" good writing when you see it because most writing is just mediocre- and some appallingly bad!
When I pick up a book or poem or article I have an instant response to what I see as good writing.

You can tell a lot by a book by the style in which it is written. There are some authors my husband had tried out but he said the books were so similar, it wasn't fun to read.
I feel the writer has to say their opinion but also be conscious of their readers.

Unless you're writing Fiction...be honest with your readers.
