Sir Arthur Conan Doyle began his career in 1882 in the medical field. He wrote in his spare time & achieved great success with his first Sherlock Holmes novel in 1887, “A Study in Scarlet.” He was knighted in 1902 for his efforts in support of the British cause in the Boer War.
My notes: Many of us know the Sherlock Holmes story. It's been in many movies & has been referenced often. Have any of you read the original one? I'd like to get my hands on the copies. I can imagine how much we would think they'd be "odd" when compared to the modern writing.

I have never been a fan of his books and don't watch a lot of tv shows/movies referencing Sherlock Holmes either.
