Definitely own my own house. I like having my privacy & taking care of things without having to get someone's okay. We don't even look for a house with HOA's with their rules.

Own a house so you're not pouring money into someone else's pocket forever

I rather rent at this point, because there's not a single house or a condo in my neck of the woods that I like enough to invest all my money in it.

Own a house of course.I like my privacy and there is very little of that living on an apartment community like I currently do.

Well, I am used to renting a flat. In mainland Europe, it's the norm to rent a flat, and the laws protect the tenants much better than, for example, in the UK. There are people who also own their own flat or even their house, but usually live in it for a long time, and the house often goes then to the children after they die.
Most people in the UK want to buy their home, but it gets increasingly difficult, because there aren't enough homes, and/or they are too expensive for first-time buyers.
My husband and I own our house, and it's the best thing to do in the UK.
