"National Roof Over Your Head Day was created as a day to be thankful for what you have, starting with the roof over your head. There are many things that we have that we take for granted and do not stop to appreciate how fortunate we are for having them. All across our nation, there are many that do not have the things that necessary to everyday life. They may lack a roof over their heads, enough food to eat, or clothes to wear. For those who have those bare necessities, it may be insufficient. The day reminds us to appreciate what you have. This day follows closely after Thanksgiving, a day to be thankful. So just like Thanksgiving, be thankful for what you do have and always remember, that it is a better feeling than worrying about what you do not have."
My notes: This is so true! We take for granted what we have 'cos we tend to focus on what we DON'T. Not realizing that what we HAVE may be what others DON'T have!

"Faux Fur Friday, observed on the first Friday in December, provides a stylish way to wear and buy faux fur. Also known as fake fur, the textile made its debut in 1929. Initially made from alpaca wool, faux fur increased in quality as synthetic fibers became available. The fibers not only allowed for more variety and texture, but they also provided warmth. While the neo fur didnβt breath as well as animal fur, nor did it insulate as well, it lasted longer. Animal fur required refrigeration to avoid degrading. Whether you call it fake, imitation or simulated, faux fur has found a place in fashion. Designers use it as an accent on clothing. They also create decor and entire ensembles. Faux fur comes in every color imaginable, too."
My notes: It's funny that faux fur was made with alpaca wool. That's not faux then! I don't care for fur coats nor faux fur ones. What about you?

ZandraJoi, spg, Never cared for faux fur or real fur. When I was younger I had a really nice coat with a fur collar, then I found out it was made with chinchilla fur. That 'cured' it for me:-) I never had anything else with fur on it after that.

Is it that cold where you live ? Never wore fur, to be honest. It's quite cold. We get snow & the temperatures can drop in the single digits Fahrenheit in the dead of winter. Throw in wind chill & it can be hard to breathe.

"Every year on the first Saturday of December, falling on December 3 this year, itβs Bath & Body Worksβ Candle Day. Stock up on your favorite calming scents for the lowest prices of the year. The day only comes around once annually, so make sure itβs on your calendar!"
My notes: Do you like candles? What are your favorite scents? They are too strong for me but I liked the vanilla or flower ones.

"Each year on December 3rd, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities promotes the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. The day raises awareness of the political, economic, social and cultural aspects disability affects people around the world." My notes: Disabilities can come in all shapes & sizes. Young & old. Male & female. Can start when one is a child. Can start as an adult. Just note however that disabled just means they cannot do certain things with ease. They are ABLED in other areas. So focus on what you can do rather than what you can't do.
