www.naturalnews.com/2021-01-20-plastic-fibers-from-clothes-polluting-arctic-ocean.html"Microplastics – microscopic pieces of plastic – have previously been found in Arctic sea ice. Now, new research shows that microplastics are polluting the entire Arctic region, including the North Pole. Published in the journal Nature Communications, a study by researchers from Canada found an average of 49 microplastic particles per cubic meter of seawater throughout the Arctic. Of these, 92.3 percent were synthetic fibers, most of which were polyester. These figures are approaching levels of plastic pollution seen in the more exposed Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. According to lead author Peter Ross, an ocean pollution expert with Ocean Wise Conservation Association, the dominance of polyester fibers highlights the role that the textile industry may have in the contamination of the world’s oceans...." My notes: Article continues in link. For being so tiny, they are a BIG problem!

Disappointing to read the findings. If the The Arctic region is characterised as being the barometer of the planet's health, well earth isn't in too good of shape eh

It is a big problem. The United States I am sure has trashed their share. But the textile industries in the third world countries, in the pacific ocean are really bad. The throw so much into the ocean. And I'm sure China is a huge violator of ecological laws.

Why do people persist in dumping their trash off into the ocean. That's a question we need to ask ourselves. To be honest, there's even an island somewhere on the coast of america that is dedicated the trash. The entire island is filled with trash, waste, and garbage. The ocean is a very delicate thing even though it's so big. In years to come if this continues so drastically it could have devastating effects on marine life and the ecosystem and cause all kinds of chain effects.
