What kind of first aid should pet owners know? What supplies should a pet owner keep on hand in case the pet has an injury or illness?
I know some animals can have baby aspirin for pain but I never know the correct amount so I've always been afraid to give it to any of my pets.
When cutting nails keep a styptic pen or power on hand to stop any bleeding.

Being holistic, we have 'let food be thy medicine' here. Coconut oil, colloidal silver, aloe vera plant. Prevention is the best care. Know your pet before a simple wound gets out of hand. I've never had to give aspirin or Benadryl (for itching) but they are good to have on hand. Never underestimate a food intolerance that can cause a reaction. We fostered a dog who wouldn't stop itching. Changed her food to gluten free & that is what did the trick.

www.barkandwhiskers.com/healing-animal-wounds-with-honeyStory at-a-glance As antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria continue to proliferate, when it comes to wound healing in animals, the use of medical-grade honey is getting lots of attention While both table honey and medical-grade honey have antibacterial properties, highly processed table honey is akin to high fructose corn syrup, which is more likely to increase infection and, in my opinion, should never be used to treat topical wounds Two common types of medical honey are manuka honey and greenhouse produced hydrophilic honey gel I use manuka honey extensively with animal patients to heal resistant skin infections, burns, and large wounds that can’t be closed surgically My notes: This is a great article on the use of honey. lammchen,

We have a styptic pen that is useful. Didn't realize honey was that great for wounds.
