"National Medal of Honor Day on March 25th recognizes all Medal of Honor recipients. On March 25, 1863, Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton presented the first Medals of Honor (Army) to six members of “Andrews Raiders” for their volunteering and participation during an American Civil War raid in April of 1862. Created in 1861, the Medal of Honor is the United States of America’s highest military honor. It is awarded only to US military personnel by the President of the United States in the name of Congress for personal acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty. There are three versions of the Medal of Honor; one for the Army, one for the Navy and one for the Air Force, with personnel of the Marine Corps and the Coast Guard receiving the Navy version. Since its creation, there have been 3,468 Medals of Honor awarded to the country’s soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and coastguardsmen."
My notes: You'd think there'd be more medals awarded. Some are literal unsung heroes that didn't get the recognition they deserved.

Yeah, I'm not sure how it works with the medals in the military. But I'm sure there are many who didn't get recognized for their achievements.

"Celebrated around the world on March 25th, Tolkien Reading Day is a favorite among fans of the renowned author. J.R.R. Tolkien (Jan. 3, 1892 – Sept. 2, 1973) was an English writer, poet, philologist, and university professor. He was best known as the author of the classic works The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarrillion as well as Roverandom and Farmer Giles of Ham. However, he has published more than 30 books, several posthumously. The author has sold more than 150 million copies of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and that number continues to grow. The day encourages readers of all ages to explore the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien and learn more about the author. With over 30 published works, he had a lot to say and not just about hobbits, though many are on medieval order. Can you doodle like Tolkien? Check out the video below. He was an avid crossword puzzler, too."
My notes: Who likes his books? Which is your favorite?

"Bed-In for Peace Day is celebrated on March 25 to mark an innovative, non-violent way of expressing protest against wars. It was first used 53 years ago by John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono. As newlyweds, this couple used this method to protest the ongoing Vietnam war. It was their way of peacefully voicing against the atrocities of war and promoting peace. This style of protest gave birth to many such protests in the future, where people would lie down in front of government institutions and would not vacate unless their demands were met."
My notes: Have you did a Bed-In for Peace? Would you? I like the fact it's a peaceful protest.

I haven't and I wouldn't. There are far more effective (and still peaceful) ways to bring about change.

"International Waffle Day is on March 25 and celebrates waffles, their history, and a surprising religious holiday. A holiday that is best celebrated by eating waffles is our kind of holiday. Unsurprisingly the day has become a bit of a hit. It was originally celebrated in Sweden but now eager stomachs all over the world embrace International Waffle Day. Plug in your waffle maker and tuck into some mouth-watering treats." My notes: I didn't know it was a religious holiday. Any of you knew that? Do you like waffles? I would rather have pancakes but haven't had either in so long. Members may like this: WYR Pancakes or waffles

Didn't know it was a religious holiday either. I don't own a waffle maker nor do I want one. I prefer pancakes.
