www.naturalawakenings.com/2021/06/30/359151/composting-made-easy-turn-food-waste-into-black-gold- "Just 3 percent of uneaten food in the U.S. is composted, reported the Natural Resources Defense Council in 2012. The remaining food scraps rotting in landfills account for 23 percent of U.S. methane emissions, a greenhouse gas at least 25 times more powerful than carbon monoxide in global warming. With minimal planning and effort, however, food scraps can be recycled through composting into an organic, high-nutrient fertilizer...." My notes: Composting is quite easy. Since we have acreage, it's easier to do it here as we have the space but for those with limited space, there are always ways.

It's simple & easy. You peel potatoes, core apples, crack open eggs, or even coffee grounds, all can be composted.
We have all sorts of food scraps every day.

Yeah it is very simple and easy, even creating compost for your scraps. I created one out of pallets, it has been holding up for about 3 years now. It is in the corner of the backyard so their it is out of the way from everything else.

In our city they provide green bins where disposing organics is encouraged. Anything from soiled paper, food scraps, etc are allowed in the green organics bin. Residents are allowed to have a certain amount of mulch at different times of the year for their yards. It's a great program and I don't mind being charged on my utility bill knowing that so much is not simply ending up in the landfills.

www.familyhandyman.com/list/things-you-can-compost-plus-things-you-shouldnt "Things You Can Compost, Plus Items You Definitely Shouldn’t Starting a compost pile in the backyard or participating in a municipal compost program? Good for you! Here's a list of things you can compost, as well as stuff you absolutely should not...." My notes: Be mindful of what you put in & don't put in.

www.familyhandyman.com/project/build-a-compost-bin"Turn your yard waste into gold by building this compost bin from recycled wood pallets!..." My notes: For those who are interested in making their own. Have you made one before? What have you used? Would you use this design? We had a compost barrel before but since we live in the woods, it's just easier to throw it out. Critters scavenge & the rest gets broken down.

My grandma always had an oversized compost bed that she would slowly work into her garden at the end of each season. She doesn't do it anymore as it gets pretty messy.
