Would you rather someone be honest & hurt your feelings or lie to protect you? Honesty all the way. I prefer to know how somebody really feels.

I used to lie often in order to protect my ex girlfriends feelings because I used to love her. As to the rest of the world, they tend to get brutal honesty from me. It really depends on the person, the more I care, the more I'll lie. Some people cannot handle the truth as they are too sensitive.
But if I don't care for them, then I don't care about their feelings and they get the truth no matter what it may be.
As to me I can give it much better than I can take it, so watch out! lol

Honesty for sure. Like to know where I stand.

Honesty no matter if it hurt or not is better than lies.

I prefer to know the truth, no matter how badly it hurts. There's nothing worse than having someone pity you and protect your feelings only to later find out the opposite is true and you just feel even more crushed afterwards.

Very good answers! Honesty is always great. @lbj, That's interesting! The more I care, the more I tell the truth as I feel they deserve that respect. T.T., Emerald, Very much agree! PGen98, Oh pity is the worse isn't it!

@lbj , That's interesting! The more I care, the more I tell the truth as I feel they deserve that respect. My last girlfriend had very poor self esteem, she also had many issues. I lied to build her up and make her feel better about herself. Given the opportunity I would do it all over again without changing a thing.

Given the opportunity I would do it all over again without changing a thing. I understand that point of view. Coming from someone who has been lied to to 'build me up', I still rather have the truth. Of course I mean the truth in a productive way. I'm not against little white lies especially when someone is vulnerable but in order for that person to become strong, they need some gentle coaxing to get there.
This is also a case of, how I always say Know your pet, to know the person too. Encourage them to find their voice.
Every situation will always be different. & I appreciate you sharing more here

For myself, just tell me straight up...Honesty wins! It might hurt, but lies don't stay buried; you'll find out anyway, eventually. Might as well hear the truth now.
Although, I also believe a little white lie can be forgiven, depends on the person and the situation.

Honestly for me as well, especially if it's something big/major.
Whilst it may be hurtful, I think it's just a lot better than someone tells you that rather than trying to hide it from you.

PGen98 , Oh pity is the worse isn't it! It definitely is! I understand people want to shield your feelings at times, but when they pity you and you find out afterwards that what they told you was only to protect your feelings...it's just a feeling of lost trust, devastation and so much more. Just tell the truth! Always the truth!
