What computer do you prefer? Apple, PC, Linux, etc...
I am an Apple fan but I do love Windows too. Currently, I also own a Chromebook, which is nice for simple tasks.

Would never buy an Apple product. I'm a Windows person myself & never tried Apple. Just curious why you wouldn't buy one.

I love Apple, but as of late, I want to try Windows again. I can remember using good ole Windows 95 as a kid!

I've been using Windows as an operating system my whole life. Currently, I'm running Windows 10 and I don't think I'll soon switch to Windows 11. I think it's still too new and unoptimized for use. And I also play video games on my PC and Windows 11 seems to be behind in that with compatibility and optimization.

My long term plan is to get the Apple laptop or the apple desktop. I hope that in near future that desktop or laptop would do good enough for my usage. Which I feel that in near future I have to hold enough money to buy it.

I've used Windows my whole life, but I also don't mind using Ubuntu. The only problem with using Ubuntu is getting compatible programs, not everything is going to work on it. Most programs are designed with Windows in mind. Ubuntu is a flavor of Linux for those not familiar. I know there's Wine that will try it's best to get Windows programs running on Linux OS, but it doesn't work with everything.

aaron101, spg, lainee, Pinky, scooter, Bob, spice, yarik, nova, ravenfreak, What are the pros & cons to Windows, Linux, Ubuntu, Apple? What are the similarities & differences? Why do you choose one over the other? I can’t compare it with others. I’ve always used Windows so am used to the style & features it provides. I’d be intimidated having to “start over” with a new system.

Ubuntu = a Linux = zero cost
Windows = popular
Mac = costly

Would never buy an Apple product. I'm a Windows person myself & never tried Apple. Just curious why you wouldn't buy one. On principle. For the longest time my husband would build our computers from the bottom up. Now that he has passed I am not able to do that. Currently I have an Acer PC running Windows 11.

The general idea with Unix (Linux, Ubuntu, Red Hat, etc.) is that it is very powerful and many variations are free to use...but it's very difficult to use and poorly documented.

Thank you for your reply. That makes sense. While I haven't tried those, I have browsed videos before & they look to be a bit over my head.

I'm current running on Windows 7 it works great.
I have two Windows XP , one works fine and the other one motherboard is fired.
I will never use 10 or 11 because it has spyware on them , ads on the computer.

But new computers come with the new upgrade & I'm not technically inclined at all to know how to get an older one. Is it easy to do?

Btw, I have my Raspberry Pi up and running now. Got a tiny little monitor to pair with it. (The pic is on my forums.) The eventual idea is to load Icecast onto it, and eventually...I'll be producing streaming internet radio!

I use one Linux and windows PC, currently working with only Windows PC since it is easier to install most programs that are available. Most of them love different types, but currently in these days we are using only light weight systems that are easy to carry and work.

Not very, once I got all of the equipment - which was the part that took a while.

I prefer desktop over mobile and laptop, and love using linux distrobutions, at this moment in time i run windows 11 because of a few hobbies some software doesnt run that i use on linux yet. The greatness of windows 11 i can have isolated linux distrobutions under WSL 2 (windows sub system for linux) which helps in both world for me and my developments.

I have always used Windows PC, I have never used Linux, and I once tried my hands on Mac. However, when I am ready to buy a new computer, it will probably be Mac.
