healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2022/04/10/social-benefits-of-pet-ownership.aspx Story at-a-glance The presence of a pet may act as a social lubricant, helping people to open up more and stay connected Being accompanied by a dog while engaging in normal daily activities led to an increased frequency of social interactions One of the key indicators of higher levels of social capital is pet ownership When engaged in a decision-making task, groups with dogs rated their group members as more trustworthy when a dog was present Pets facilitate not only small talk among strangers but also deeper relationships that lead to "tangible forms of social support, both of a practical and emotionally supportive nature" My notes: I agree with this. I always took my dog everywhere with me. She's a great comfort & always great for an ice-breaker

I used to have dogs, but now have cats. But one can still travel with a cat.

It is really easy to start communication in a public place when you and the girl or the boy both are walking the dog. LOL
