www.familyhandyman.com/article/heres-how-far-you-can-actually-drive-on-empty "How far can you actually drive on those last few gallons of gas? Let’s be honest, we’ve all waited a little too long to fill our gas tank after we’ve hit empty. Some of us have been lucky and pulled into the gas station running on fumes, but others have had to walk five miles round-trip to the nearest gas station to refuel. This is why all cars don’t have gas tanks on the same side...." My notes: "But, when the gas light goes on, we never go into an immediate panic because Dad has always said, “You’ve got a few more miles left after the light goes on.” Well, you were right to trust him, and this chart tells you exactly how far you can drive on empty." The Chart is quite useful here.

One thing that I picked up from my father is to never drive my car when the fuel is low in the tank. So, most of the time, I drive on full tank and top it up immediately it goes one line down on the fuel gauge.

You've got to be careful about driving on an almost empty tank because you may not know what is ahead of you when you drive. I don't joke with having a full tank before I start my daily activities. It is very important to always do this.

First off, I would never let my tank get down to E. The fuel pump starts to suck up any sediment on the bottom and then your fuel filter will clog up and you have bigger problems. I don't like to let it go too far below half and try to never let it go past a quarter tank. That's what happened with my other van that was using double gas and we finally sold. I let it get low and after I filled up it never acted right again. May have been a coincidence but maybe not. The chart is cool, but doesn't list our van(s). But my wife’s car is on there and she can go 60+ miles on E. Yeah, never let it get that low!

We are getting only Diesel, Petrol and Electric cars, so i don't know how far I can drive. We live in City so their is no empty space unless we go to village.

I don't drive a car, I ride a bike. On my bike, I can still go 30 kilometers when the fuel goes into reserve mode. However, I never let my bike go into fuel reserve mode.
