I like that community was a big part of their lives. They knew their neighbors. People rallied together to help one another.

Not much unless you were very well off. Poverty was rife, as was disease and there was no education, again unless you were wealthy, so not a good time to be alive imo

Don't know, never been there lol Abraham Lincoln. But I wouldn't want to live in the 1800s. Gold rush would've been nice but then you'd have people kill you for it.

Yeah, that community stuff is very sweet. However, that didn't go away then. For instance, the Waltons (tv show) talks about a time in the 20th century when a lot of families were pretty close knit.
Nowadays, it's tough to have a family, though, some on social media seem like one. Nonetheless, there's nothing like that human touch of actually being there.
