From what I read Americans call it “blow dryer” while UK calls it “hair dryer”. I’ve actually used both interchangeably.

I've used both terms, only because I've used one for drying hair and another to heat dry other things. Just depends on what you use it for really, as I've used it on tech parts to soften glue or to tighten window covers to keep out cold air.

Both. But mostly blow dryer. Hand dryer I think old style in beauty shops. Where comes over your head.

Here blow dryer is used for industrial purposes or some other things. Hair dryer is used for drying hair which is normal heater to blow hot air.
We have both type for different purposes as per my knowledge.
