www.birdsandblooms.com/birding/attracting-hummingbirds/praying-mantis-hummingbird "Watch your feeders and flowers for a surprising hummingbird predator. Find out how to protect your hummingbirds from a praying mantis.... A large mantis is fully capable of catching and eating hummingbirds, so this is a serious issue. Once an individual mantis develops a fixation on your feeder, it may come back repeatedly to try to nab a hummingbird...." My notes: What would you have thought? I rarely see praying mantis here. This year was rare as I saw TWO! Normally I don't see any. I can imagine that the larger ones would be bold enough to eat tiny hummingbirds.

We very seldom see a praying mantis around here. I didn't know they were capable of eating hummingbirds...I know that some can be pretty big, but, WOW! Interesting article!
