www.birdsandblooms.com/birding/birding-basics/cardinal-bird-facts "Cardinals are one of the most popular backyard birds. Learn interesting cardinal bird facts, including why male cardinals are red, and if cardinals migrate...." My notes: I love cardinals! They have a routine. I hear their chips in the morning to feed then at dusk, I hear them coming back in with their signature chips for feeding at night.

Love cardinals...they're beautiful! I don't think I've ever seen a white cardinal before, though

www.birdsandblooms.com/birding/birding-basics/cardinal-crest"A bright red cardinal crest is unmistakable. Find out why cardinals raise their crests and if female cardinals have crests...." My notes: It's fun to see a bird's crest rise & fall. "Birding experts Kenn and Kimberly Kaufman say, “Northern cardinals raise or lower their crests at will. The position of the crest can be a signal to other cardinals, but the meaning of the signal seems to vary. When one male is aggressively driving another one away, it may flatten its crest completely, while the losing bird raises its crest high.”"
