www.naturalawakenings.com/2022/09/30/412277/green-schoolyards-concrete-jungles-become-natural-playgrounds"Skipping rope, playing hopscotch or shooting hoops have traditionally been enjoyed on asphalt-paved schoolyards enclosed by chain-link fencing. But over the last few decades, city leaders, school districts and other stakeholders have been transforming such areas into verdant play-learn spaces, designed for and by students and the community, which also offer green space for surrounding neighborhoods to enjoy during non-school hours...." My notes: I don't know why they wouldn't just keep it green. Having kids fall on gravel can do a lot of damage. & yes, the grass will get torn up but hey, that's normal!

This sounds wonderful! There's always been too much concrete in playgrounds...put some greenery in there! Kids can still play, tumble in the grass and learn more about plants and nature...awesome!

Children need that feeling of the grass between the feet when playing or sitting. Cushions the fall too.

Why wouldn't they already do this?

What I noticed here in most schools and public places where they use Concrete instead of Grass because they are unable to maintain and the cost of maintenance which wont meet for them. It's not easy to put Grass wherever we want, just try it and you know the taste of landscape.
