I have never used seashells because I live in a landlocked country and I cannot find seashells. However, have used egg shells and crushed chicken bones on soil to improve soil quality.

Never heard of using it myself either, but I would think it be hard in the soil as I can't imagine they would break down easily. Plus you might cut yourself as you go digging around in the ground.
