I have used both actually. I think we used Supper more when I was younger. Right now, I use Dinner.

when I was a kid, we lived near a church that used to do evening suppers- some biscuits, a drink, maybe some cake
the idea was that it was after the main dinner and people could just come and relax and chat
so with that in mind, it was always dinner for me

I know some people use them interchangeably while some view them as 2 different things.
