I have found out that my trash company doesn't always recycle the items that is picked up separately that's specifically for recycling. They don't have the resources to do the recycling and so a lot of it just goes in the trash. When is the US going to actually start taking recycling seriously now that China won't recycle for us? And why were we paying to send it overseas anyway?

Actually here the plastic wastage is recycling, but not all things, however our Govt doing some good things than the past ones. Moreover what I can say is we need to reduce these one time usable products, than keeping tension on Government.

I had contacted ours a few years back & they said they didn't ship to China. I haven't heard any updated news. It's sad that so many recycling facilities do that. It's hard enough to get people to do the R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) then when they do it & it's for nothing, it's very deflating. To me it's greenwashing. Making us think we are doing good, that the company is doing good when it's not. That's why it's up to us to do the Rethink. Rethink what you buy. Compost what you can. In our area, we can burn. I know that's controversial with some areas but I grew up burning trash. We didn't burn stuff that shouldn't be burned i.e. hard plastic.

We have 3 types of waste pick up. Trash is trash that goes to the landfill Recycling is for well recycling Compost for food and cat litter, etc.
You can also take electronics or furniture to the recycle depot.

www.familyhandyman.com/article/is-recycling-plastic-even-worth-it "Most of our plastic isn't getting recycled. Here are some easy ways we can help fix that. As a country, we’re decent about some of our recycling. We successfully process about two-thirds of our aluminum and paper and about one-third of our glass back into new products...." My notes: What is the alternative then? Yes, most of us do the R's but some things can't be composted or burned. We need companies to step up & make eco friendlier products but that won't happen. I will still recycle 'cos I'm hoping most DOES get recycled & eventually it will be more efficient. lammchen, Bob, golden, lainee, spice,

That is... a really good question. I've read that other services might be just trashing everything as well due to costs. I'll have to look into my city's program to see what happens when things are picked up.

I don't understand why our government doesn't help out more with this in the US?

I don't understand why our government doesn't help out more with this in the US? Not profitable. Our government has gone so downhill.

The U.S. government will not do anything that is not beneficial for their corporate donors in the very, very short term. The rich people who fund their campaigns do not care about the long term because they are selfish and only serve to make themselves as rich as possible during their lifetimes.
