There are countries where rain water harvesting is encouraged? Do you have something similar where you live? Do you approve of it?

There are countries where rain water harvesting is encouraged? Do you have something similar where you live? Do you approve of it? We have 4 rain barrels we use. Some states in the USA actually make it illegal to harvest. I think that's stupid! If it goes on our roof, it goes onto our land. If we use rain barrels, we STILL use it for our land so it eventually makes its way to natural resources.

I keep wanting to get into rainwater collection, but never sat down and set it up. It is completely legal here and many people do so to water their gardens and such. I actually looked into places where rainwater collection is illegal and those laws have mostly gone away in the US. Generally, there are only laws that focus on safety, e.g. covers on large storage tanks, not tapping into the drinking water system, commercial use, etc.

We have over here in the UK something we can rain butts which are pretty much the same as rain barrels and they are set where you would catch the most rain say for example near a green house with a pipe leading from the roof down to it so that you can any rain water so you can store it. Perfect for heatwaves when things like hose pipe bans come into place and you need water to water your plants or even grass.

Rain water harvesting is a good job for everyone because we can save water for the summer season. Here most of the borewells are getting dried out so our Government recommended rain water harvesting and I am also looking to implement this method for long lasting water resources.
