What do you do when your eyes start to hurt after reading for too long? What I do is same thing I do for the computer as that is "reading" too. I set the timer. For the computer it's 15-30 minute intervals for reading, I like to go longer lol because if it's a good book, you just do not want to put it down! But I also suffer with eye fatigue so I set that timer for 30 minutes. If I have a cat on my lap, I just lean back & cup my palms over my eyes for a few minutes. If there is no cat, I get up & walk around. Splash water on my eyes & just do something else while thinking about what the next page would come up with!

When my eyes get tired and start to hurt from reading a lot I know that is time for me to get up and take a break either away from a book I am reading or also away from the computer if I have been doing a lot of reading there which usually is the case if I have been working or posting on forums.
I usually tend to take about a 30 min to an-hour break and do other things before coming back.

Take a break and do something that doesn't require a closer look.

Get off the computer and take a break.
