www.familyhandyman.com/article/make-your-reusable-grocery-bags-sturdier "Have you ever had a heavy load of groceries that your reusable grocery bag just can’t handle without ripping? We’ve got the perfect solution for you! Find a scrap piece of plywood lying around your workshop and cut it to the measurements of the base of your reusable grocery bag. Replace the thin plastic insert (so prone to cracking and splitting) with the measured and cut piece of plywood and place it in the bottom of your reusable grocery bag...." My notes: What have you tried? My husband got some thick cardboard & cut it to fit on the bottom.

Great ideas...wood, cardboard or even a piece of plastic..:-) And, I have plenty of bags, so I try to NOT 'overload' them...that way they're easier to carry, too

I have not tried this method as I carry a couple of bags while shopping so that I do not have to the issue of tearing the bags with loads but I think cardboards are better alternative to plywood.
