I grow the teddy bear sunflower type, so it is a smaller plant that gets lots of nice sunflowers. Realized though after a while the flower gets too heavy and starts to droop. So nice as it was, not sure if I will do more, as they do draw in a lot of bees.

I tried propping them up with sticks but they all were like that.
I found this link: Sunflowers They have 5 reasons which include underwatering which is what I think mine was about as they drooped before they even had seeds! They can be propped & I may do that better next year.

I think the heads just get way too big for the stalk to support, and I know they are really hard to water, can't under or over water them easily. I got some pics of my sun flower I'll post soon.

Would love to see them! My dad plants sunflowers all around his huge garden. & then some are volunteers from last year. He also waters them a lot.

When we moved into this house, the previous owners used the huge garden to grow massive sunflowers! We didn't do anything back there and then just let them grow on their own for a couple years. But then my husband wanted to use the area as a fire pit and that ruined the sunflowers and they wouldn't grow back (duh) so the following year I started a real garden on 1/4 of the garden space. We now have seeded the area and today it's flooding boo

We now have seeded the area and today it's flooding boo Oh that is a shame! My parents have a huge garden & my dad plants sunflowers around the perimeter. Every year however, he has "volunteers" that pop up here & there. He has sandy soil like we do up here so we're fortunate to not get flooding. I think there are ways to help divert the natural flood zones but it takes time & money to implement.
