A variant of living without tech. Do any of you wish for simpler times? Do you wish we never knew tech? Because if we never knew it, we wouldn’t MISS it. Even the Amish, who are for simpler times, DO have some tech in their lives. Of course it may depend on where they live. The ones here do have phones & computers. Do you wonder what it would be like? Not saying horse & buggy days again, but advancements still happening, though without tech. Maybe we’d rely more on each other & the Earth.

... but advancements still happening, though without tech. How would that work? Without tech, the human race at some time reaches a point of stagnation where they cannot improve upon themselves any more than they already have.

Without tech, the human race at some time reaches a point of stagnation where they cannot improve upon themselves any more than they already have. Good question I have wondered myself. Look at all that has been accomplished without Tech. The Pyramids built in great detail & design. Studying of the planets with simple hard work. I think we can continue to improve by continuing to keep our humanity. We are losing it too much in my opinion. Plus I'm of the belief if we keep the Earth healthy, WE are healthy so we wouldn't need all the high tech scans to detect yet another cancer or virus. Unfortunately, I am also of the belief we may never have a healthy Earth. Even if we rid it of all the toxins, it is in the environment for many years to come.

What would it be like? Just open up any text book, plenty of records of a world without tech lol.
I like to think things be better, but whow knows.

Somebody had to design the Pyramids and the methods to create them. Just because it wasn't done on a computer doesn't mean it isn't tech. As for the planets, someone had to figure out how to distinguish them from stars, how to see them, how to use the mathematics needed to plot their course, etc. Again, the lack of a computer doesn't mean it's not tech.

I honestly don't think technology is the problem. I think it's the primary economic system that's been the driving motivation for just about everybody over the past few decades (or longer). I think if we were to remove the shackles of profit being the motivational force for our existence, I think that we could live a better, more natural life, even with the technology we have. In fact, I'd argue that capitalism has hindered our technological development -- getting away from fossil fuels being one of the major money making engines for our Elite overlords.
Look at the light bulb. back before 1940, maybe earlier, light bulbs kept getting longer and longer lifespans, until some profiteer figured out that if they keep extending the life of a light bulb, they'll start loosing money because nobody will need to buy light bulbs anymore. So, they started shortening the lifespan of the light bulb. Capitalism is the enemy to our well being. There's actually a name for this phenomenon, I think it starts with an O.

I do like Tech in my life....although, I'd be fine with LESS.
And, I don't think Tech is the real problem, either. It's greedy, idiotic morons that (MIS)use and abuse it for their own gain, not to help anyone.

Steve, demonskeith, Senkusha, lainee, Thank you all for the insight here! That is true, Pyramids & studying the Planets used some "tech" but I guess I wouldn't call mathematics a form of tech. Tech to me is something that needs to be plugged in whereas maths can be learned anytime, anywhere, even in remote areas. They used their brains more back then instead of relying on a computer (aka tech, AI) to do the thinking for them. Senkusha, are you talking about Planned Obsolescence?
