What do you think of the practice of book banning? I don’t believe in banning because it can go too far. What one deems just fine, another may deem offensive. It’s a matter of personal opinion. What’s to stop some of your favorite books from being banned? Now of course, simple morals have to come into play. We must have respect, common decency, & common courtesy.

If you don't like a book don't read it. Bookstores are different from schools and public libraries though and the freedom in what goes into a book store isn't always there in a school or public library.

I don't think they should do it. Freedom of Speech.

You'll notice, now that many of the people whom have dealt with the atrocities of World War II are no longer with us, that these same fascist ideals are returning in our political realms? Banning books causes People to forget much of the horrible stuff that has happened to Us as a whole. It's too easy to rise to authoritarian power when books are conveniently banned for any reason. Histories are complete re-written in this way, and Humanity, the entire Planet, has to relive all that was once learned all over again.

But history is NOT PC. It lets us know where we were & where we are now. Don't erase, don't "cancel" our lives.

I believe that certain books should not be available to certain age levels. Is that banning?

No, I wouldn't call that 'book banning', lammchen .
I'd call it Common Sense and Common Decency....protecting our kids when they are very young and impressionable is our right and our responsibility.
(when they're older, if they choose to read them....so be it)

lammchen, lainee, Great question! I believe Book Banning is more about control not respect. A young kid should not read an explicit book with sex.

I don't think books should be banned. I think everyone should just be allowed to read whatever they want. If something is not your thing then just don't read it. One person shouldn't be allowed to decide what everyone else can and cannot read.

I'm with spice on this sentiment. If they don't like it, don't read it. Pure and simple.
