What differentiates a good piece of art from a bad one?
How do we figure that out?

Art can be really subjective, but mostly good art follows the main fundamental skills (there is disagreement on the number of fundamentals). I am not really into the modern loose style but prefer a more realistic piece.

lammchen, Art is definitely subjective because we all appreciate things in different ways. It's like how I love obscene arts, some people will not feel the same way towards it.

I know a man who is trying to sell his art but can’t find buyers. Not because it’s not good, in fact it’s really good. Too good to the point it looks like it was printed. What could help him?

He needs to contact galleries and have his work shown there. True buyers appreciate work that is in a gallery more than trying to sell online.

If he lived in Toronto he could make some good money but not here. He should put it on a canvas so people know it’s legit

Art is each their own, someone may like something that others hate and vice versa. All that matters is you can appeal to the bigger audience.

As most people have already said, it's completely subjective. I love Monet paintings but my wife really doesn't like the style, just one of those things.

People probably doesn't believe his works are real and done by him. He needs to start promoting himself through a live painting. It's going to get him the publicity he needs.

Hmm,
I'd say you have to look for a few qualities... Things like skill / technique, beauty, uniqueness, and how people in general receive it.
