How high can toads jump? Have you ever had one climb porch steps? We have a deck out back with 2 steps and we've found a toad on the deck a couple of times. I place him back down near the lilac bush and later on we find him back on the deck! He's so little!! How can he jump so high and climb the steps?

We have the American & Fowler's. Both are similar but have a different call. I can tell them apart by their hop as the American has a toad hop whereas the Fowler's has a frog jump, so it's higher. I remember it by the F in Fowler & Frog.
I've seen toads jump several inches up. Now the gray tree frog can CLIMB! It confuses people because it also sounds like a bird. So when you hear a bird "trill" up in a tree, you think bird, not frog.
If it's a little thing, see if it's not actually the gray tree frog which looks like a toad & more confusing, comes in different colors! We've had one on our deck railing. Saw them in trees & just the last week I saw this tiny green thing on the garage siding, over halfway up. Size of quarter. Yep, gray tree frog!

I know they can jump pretty high, pretty much why they are always shown to be jumping around as so.

There are different toads? LOL I know that's a silly question, but I guess I never thought of it. It's just a toad to me. We have some gray tree frogs here too and I was afraid to touch it. Toads, I don't mind touching, but for some reason I'm afraid of frogs.

Yep, there are different toads If I have to move a toad (frogs mainly stay in our back acreage where it's wetter), I put on some gloves to grab them gently. Did you find out if it's a gray tree frog instead?

I haven't seen him again so he must have either gotten eaten or found a new home other than my deck
