I tend to write throughout the day. I have pencil & paper in my pants pocket in case I need to jot down something. I've always done my best writing at night. Unfortunately, that was when I also needed to sleep. Never slept well during school years. I feel the best time to write is when it hits the individual. Also a certain place may trigger a writing frenzy. For me, it's always been in bed lol I think it's because my mind tends to keep going & when all's quiet, that's when I can hear the ideas more clearly. When is your best time?

For me personally, it's the early morning, after a fresh hot shower. The hot water wakes me up and gets the creative juices flowing, and I've found that I often have my best ideas while under the steaming water. I also have the most energy in the morning. Although, I don't like to write when I'm cold, and since my fingers don't like to cooperate with me when they're cold, I need to have a nice heater nearby.
I also agree, that I find that I can write more easily if I don't have people hovering nearby. If I'm alone, or in another room, I may have some music playing in the background, and I can "zone in" to my writing, I don't have any distractions, conversations, or anything else that can take me out of my head. However, as soon as I'm done with that chapter, hot off the press, I need to find people to read my "masterpiece" LOL (and just because I'm cruel sometimes, that chapter often ends on a cliff-hanger! MUHAhahahaha!

Yeah, I know it's kinda cruel, but usually I don't plan on ending on a cliff hanger, it's just a natural point to end a chapter to get it out there for the world to read. Although, it is a great way to keep my audience itching for more, and helps to keep me motivated to write more.
