What do you think of books that are riddled with swearing? How much is too much? I think it depends on the type of book. Kids' books should not have swear words. Yes, they already hear it in life but doesn’t mean they should keep being exposed to it. For adult books, a few swear words is fine. Similar to on forums. Just no “sailor talk” lol

Yeah, I feel much the same way. I don't think they should be in kid's books... I'm fine with them in adult's books, though, as long as there's a reason for them being there, and they aren't thrown in just for the sake of it .

I don't really care for offensive language in books. The "Seven Bad Words" (George Carlin), do indeed have their place though, however, should be used extremely rarely, and only when it's absolutely unavoidable (or not using it would destroy the reality of the story). Cursing has no place in children's books. Even when I write, much of my fiction involves young characters, with coming to age events and plots. I've only used a curse word once or twice in the thirty or so stories that I've written, and that was only to deliver the powerful slap of reality to another character -- for understanding how significant a particular event was.
